I have another idea. What if Carrie is attracted to the drama because she doesn’t feel like she deserves to be loved? My girlfriends have tossed this analysis on me, but that never resonated with me. I honestly feel I deserve to be loved. However, it now makes perfect sense! I’m thinking I deserve to be loved like my first male role model, my father. I now realize my love standard was too low. Aim high for men like Aiden, aim low and you get emotionally unavailable men. Fortunately for me, I’ve broken my addiction to drama. No more fairy tales (Cinderella was never a favorite, I loved the story of Alice in Wonderland. I still have my Big Gold Book edition). The other night after a movie with a friend we went to a local bar called Copa D’Oro in Santa Monica. I learned very quickly that the combination of a cute hat and a SingleTee ("say hello") makes one of the best conversation starters! He chatted a bunch asking a ton of things about me, I definitely appreciated the "interest" factor. Since a guy has to be interested and interesting. So far he had one thing going for him. He was very complimentary on my looks, said he loved my eyes and kept commenting on the form of my face. I laughed and realized I am not your typical "Swedish" girl he is use to seeing. Brown eyes, brown hair and a more long face. Very interesting that being the opposite of a culture can make you stand out….and thus be more attractive.

On a side note: Copa D’Oro is a recent find of mine, where they make the best cocktails in town. Seriously, they serve up concoctions with any kind of fruit or vegetable you can imagine. They are interesting combinations you would never think of. One of my favorites is the Pimm’s Cup. It includes, Pimm’s No. 1 which is a Gin. And I don’t like Gin generally, except in this drink. It has cucumber, and a few other wonderful yummy things, topped with raspberries and mint. If you live in the area check out this great find! Even with the language barrier we tried our best to continue our conversation. He was so intrigued with me that he wanted to stay in touch and asked if he could see me again. He also wanted to send me a ticket to see him in Sweden. I thought this whole conversation was completely ridiculous. First of all, I just met him. Second, I hate the cold. And third, I am a Realist. I am 100% Realist with a capital "R". In my mind meeting a guy who lives in Sweden and is leaving in two days, there is no possible potential there what so ever. He has a child, so he’s not leaving Sweden and I would never live in cold weather. So why even give it a second thought.
